"I struggled because I couldn't get a seat until the second round."
How did Kim Se-bin, a middle blocker of the Korea Expressway Corporation, escape the second-year jinx.
Kim Se-bin is the daughter of Kim Cheol-soo, the Korea Electric Power Corporation's general manager, and Kim Nam-soon, a legendary striker who played for the national women's volleyball team. She played a leading role in the heyday of Hanbom High School.
Kim Se-bin, who received the Korea Expressway Corporation's nomination as the No. 1 player in the rookie draft in 2023, posted a success rate of 44.38 percent per set of blocking 0.596 points in 35 games. He ranked fifth in blocking and seventh in fastball. Kim also garnered 30 votes out of 31 votes cast by reporters. If he had one vote left, he would have announced the birth of a unanimous rookie award.
Early this season, however, I had a hard time. I also had elbow pain, and right before the season opened, I had to undergo pneumothorax surgery due to chest pain. I had a hard time pulling myself up.
The first round had a success rate of only 0.133 blocks per set of 13-point attacks. He recorded 1,000 blocks per 37-point set in the second round, but left a regret in the third round with 0.526 blocks per 27-point set.
At the time, coach Kim Jong-min said, "We cannot say that the surgery has no impact at all. I think there is a certain degree of experience. I have little experience. If I did not know anything about it last year, I can feel fear in the court now." He added, "Even if I am not good at it, I will give you a chance and give you time. This is the future of our team. Few players can be as tall as that," giving Kim a chance.
Is it because of the coach's trust? In the second half of the season, Kim successfully displayed performance performance that she displayed last season. She posted a record of 13 points in an individual match against Pepper Savings Bank in the fifth round on Feb. 23 and nine points in the match against IBK on March 8, successfully surpassing 200 points in an individual season for the first time. She has posted a success rate of 0.699, or 212 points in 35 games or 45.61 percent, per set of blocks. She ranks fourth in blockings and fifth in quick attacks. She is not Kim Se-bin who started the season early on.
Following last season, Kim Se-bin was confirmed to be eliminated from volleyball this season, but manager Kim Jong-min has no choice but to smile happily as he sees Kim Se-bin becoming the future of the team with rookie setter Kim Dae-eun.
Recently, head coach Kim Jong-min said, "Se-bin was having a hard time because he couldn't get a seat until the second round. There was a break during the pneumothorax surgery, and we didn't prepare much because of this."
"I put in a lot of effort myself. I was able to trust Se-bin and use him because he showed such performance," he said. "There are not many players in that stature who have that athletic ability. I'm looking forward to seeing how much he can grow in the future."
Of course, he is not a perfect player yet. He needs to grow further to compete with the V-League's middle blockers such as Hyundai Engineering & Construction's Yang Hyo-jin and Lee Da-hyun, and Chung Kwan-jang, Red Sparks' Jung Ho-young and Park Eun-jin.
"You need to have a strong mind to be strong in a bigger game. You are still young. I sometimes try to reprimand you," Kim said. "However, I have deep thoughts and strong will to make it happen. I will pay attention to growth." 온라인바카라
I'm looking forward to Kim Se-bin's future.
The Korea Expressway Corporation will conclude the 2024-2025 season with a match against the Chunggwanjang Red Sparks at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on the 19th.
